Can I add an additional driver to my pre-booking?

Yes, absolutely. If you'd like to add an additional driver to your pre-booking, you can do so via the Free2move app.

You can invite new or current Free2move users to become a second driver on your pre-booked trip. At the trip checkout, we'll give you a unique invitation link to share with your chosen co-pilot. Once they accept this invitation, their driver status will be activated.

Additional driver not a Free2move user yet? No problem! They can simply create and validate an account before accepting your invitation to drive via the magic link shared with you.

An additional driver cost of 8,99 € per day will be applied.

Additional drivers must meet the minimum age requirement for the category of car booked

What are partner fuel stations?

You don't have to refuel our cars, but if you do, the cost is on us. Fueling your Free2move car is free – as long as you do so at a partner fuel station. Simply check the app for all partner fuel stations in your area and select the 'Refuel' option. Before picking up the nozzle, enter your pump number in the app. Fill up the tank - the cost of your fuel is on us!

How do I refuel Free2move cars?

You don't have to refuel our cars, but if you choose to, the cost is on us and we'll even give you credit for it!Here's how to refuel our cars:

1. Use the app to find a partner petrol station [/de/en/faq/fueling-and-charging/#what-are-partner-fuel-stations]

2. . Digital fuelling is available at more than 1,500 Shell stations across Germany.

3. Select the Refuel option in the app.

4. Before picking up the nozzle, enter your pump number in the app.

5. Fill up the tank – the cost of your fuel is on us!

6. Once you're done fuelling, replace the nozzle.

7. We'll take care of the payment automatically and, where applicable, apply Free2move credit to your account.

Hint: Each time you fully refuel a car that has less than 40% of fuel, you earn 5€ of credit. This will be used to pay for your trips and trip-related costs. Refueling is free unless you do so at unapproved petrol stations or outside of the country. In these cases, you'll have to pay for it yourself and send the original receipt to us [/de/en/contact/#contact-de].Note: Some of our cars still contain a Total fuel card. If your car has one, you can refuel at any Total or Aral partner fuel station just like before.

How can I cancel my pre-booking?

You can simply cancel your pre-booking via the app:

Open the app ▶ Menu ▶ Trips ▶ Upcoming trips ▶ Cancel booking [https://share-now.onelink.me/UCIx/prebook]

Cancellations are free if you do so at least 3 hours before your start time. After that, a late cancellation fee will be charged, as we would have set aside the car just for you. We hope that sounds fair!

Can I use a different Free2move car during my pre-booking?

Once the pre-booked car has been reserved for you 1 hour before start time, you will not be able to reserve or rent other Free2move cars.

Question 6

How will I find my pre-booked car?

Accepted Answer

We'll notify you when the car is ready for you. Simply open the Free2move app. The car will already be reserved for you on the map. Just walk over and start your trip in the app!

Will my pre-booked car be delivered to the exact pick-up location I ask for?

Accepted Answer

Our goal is to make sure you don't have to walk more than 10 minutes (roughly 800 m) to reach your pre-booked car.

In some Free2move cities, we operate station-based car-sharing where cars do not "free-float" but are rented from fixed stations.

Can I let someone else drive the car using my Free2move account?

Accepted Answer

For short trips in the city, only the person who owns the account may drive the car. However, if you pre-book a trip for 1 to 30 days, an additional driver can be added to your booking for a fee of 8,99 € per day.

How will I know when my pre-booked car is ready?

Your car will be ready for you at your pick-up location roughly 1 hour before start time. We'll notify you as soon as the car is ready for you.

What happens if I'm late to pick up the car?

Don't worry. We'll make sure the car stays reserved for you up to 1 hour after your requested pick-up time.

After 1 hour, your pre-booking will be automatically cancelled and you will be charged 1 full rental day (24 hours).

Currently, you can pre-book a car from 1 to 100 days in advance.

Yes you can.

Pre-booking is free and lets you decide exactly where and when you want your car. We'll bring your pre-booked car within walking distance of your requested pick-up address — within the Home Area, of course!
